I took an 8 year old pal and her mom to their 1st Flecktone's show. They were mesmerized. Who was that on the violin? How can a harmonica sound like a sax and a clarinet? How can Futureman make his right arm drum like someone using 2 hands, and his left hand doing whatever it's doing on his drumitaur? How does Bela come out with so many beautiful-looking (and sounding )versions of a banjo? How does Victor do that? How can he make a bass so much more? The Flecktones imagine what they play and their imagination flows out their instruments bypassing their bodies, because otherwise if someone else tried to play like them, putting fingers on keys and buttons and strings in all the exact same places it wouldn't sound the same. It couldn't. How does all this magic happen? All in one night? The Vermont community of Flecktones fans got a lot bigger last night. Age 8 is not too young to be spellbound by the experience.

That was Casey Driessen on the five string fiddle. The rest, as you said, is pure magic!

So glad you enjoyed the show and came to the forum to tell us about your amazing evening! Age 8? Wow, what a perfect age to expose a mind to the pure joy music brings to this world! Get that youngster the CD "Jingle All the Way" for the holidays!!

Great Holidays to You!
