Has Anyone Seen Any of the Holiday Shows?

Postby jen17 » Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:46 pm

Hi. Has anyone seen any of the Holiday Shows on this tour?
Just curious and I want to live vicariously!

I saw these two articles from Portland, which I thought were sort of fun to read.

If you have any personal reviews of the shows, please share them. I would love to hear how they are going. While trying my darned-est, I do not think I will be able to catch a show this tour. I saw the holiday show last year though and loved it.

Big Holiday Tour announcement on the main page!

Here's the highlights:
Those of you hitting up the Oakland (12/16) show will get to see the Flecktones with Coffin, Levy, Alash and Casey Drissien (and maybe more).

New album with the original four seems to be hitting in May with full summer, fall, winter, spring tours.

Plus it looks like there will be a "link to a new movie" . . . but that doesn't seem to be up just yet.

I'm pumped for all this stuff! Hope there are people there to tape them in Oakland so all us poor souls who have to stay home can hear the fun they have with all those guest appearances.

Thanks for the info. All sounds awesome!!! Now, I just need to get to Oakland! I wish.

I saw this Youtube clip from Vancouver, posted just a couple days ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ_AjH-7_i4

The video gets better after the first few minutes.

Those first few notes always just take my breath away. After that, there is just no way not to smile listening to this song.

I'm going tonight. I'll post a description and pictures (if the venue allows). And if the guys come out to say hi, I'll have a jar of homemade ginger & pear jam for Bela.

Just saw the Santa Rosa show. Most Excellent! David Grisman sat in on "Big Country" and 3 or 4 other tunes. Casey was fantastic and Alash were really great. Catch this tour if you can.

You hate me: the Santa Rosa show was great. Not only did we get Flecktones and Alash, we also got Casey "Red Shoes" Driessen and Dave Grisman sitting in. Pictures, including a scan of the signed set list, here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 6f2d833256 .

Here's the setlist:
Next
Silent Sleigh
2 Peanuts
Vic solo
Throwdown
12 days
Jingle Bells

Futch solo
Big Country
Tuvan stuff
Ah sho deckeo
Have yourself
Banjo solo

Encore: Dingledai
Shanti

I'm an old fashioned girl...I was most happy to hear Big Country and Shanti, and I loved Bela's solo, which included stuff from Perpetual Motion.

Jeff looked and sounded great. He's flying off to do a DMB show tomorrow, I think he said in Texas, so I'm glad I saw them tonight.
